Usually, the installation process itself can be finished in a day or two. This typically depends on how much preparation the old floor will need before the new floor can be installed. They can be, especially when wet or if a beverage was spilt, but no more so than vinyl, linoleum, marble or ceramic tile floors. Application of a high-gloss sealer to protect and enhance decorative concrete may reduce traction, but this issue is easily remedied by mixing a nonslip additive or a grit to the final sealer to make the concrete surface slip resistant.

A metallic epoxy is a resinous film, between 10 and 20 mils thick, that covers the concrete, and creates a moisture and leak proof barrier unlike any other flooring finish. Although polished and stained concrete are durable options, they are not leak proof, and require monthly and yearly maintenance costs.
